South Conference
I have selected the ‘Crocs vs Dragons’ game as the match of the round. Last week on the Monday night competition it was the week for upsets, as all the undefeated teams got their first loss for the season.
The Crocs lost in a close one in one of the crossover games against the undefeated Vikings. The Crocs ended up losing this game by 4 points, I think everyone who was watching this game thought the Crocs were going to steal this one late, especially with their GM’s big 4-point play with a couple of minutes left in the game. One of the Crocs stars Jak Morris – Burney had 12 points and 9 rebounds in their loss against the Vikings. Karl Tirkkonen had 8 points and 8 rebounds while their GM ‘Dan Stow’ had 8 points and 5 rebounds. These were the 3 contributors for the Crocs, this is the second time this season they have pushed an undefeated team and come up short. If the Crocs lose this week they will be 0 – 5. My question then - is it time for GM ‘Dan Stow’ to start thinking about reshuffling his team and making some trades to get their first win of the season or does he ride it out for the season and hope for the best?
The Dragons knocked off the undefeated Unicorns and it comfortably beating them by 16 points. The Dragons star ‘Dyl Pickle’ had a double double in their win against the Unicorns scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds, their defensive beast ‘Gav Trapnell’ had 7 points and 5 blocks,. Cal Shave & Scott Elliot also contributed with a double double, with Cal having 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Scott having 11 points and 12 rebounds. Looking at the stats from the game, I can see why their GM Lucas Plozza gave almost everyone of his players an honourable mention in the player of the week nomination because each player played their role and contributed to their big win.
I am tipping the Dragons in this game to win by 11+
East Conference
For the Eastern Conference I have selected the Bulls vs Knights game as the match of the round.
Last week the Bulls welcomed one of their stars back from suspension. Tommy Walsh contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds to help his team beat the Hornets by 9 points.
The Knights continued their winning form as they beat the Ducks by 24 points and are still one of the only undefeated teams in the competition.
I think this game will be an absolute cracker and one not to be missed, as "The Goats" of Super League in Jeff Reid and Tommy Walsh go up against the undefeated Knights. Everyone knows at Super League if Jeff and Tommy get cooking, they are very hard to stop. That being said, it is known that the Knights have so many stars on their team, but they also have role players who will play their part and contribute to make sure they get another win.
One of the players that has been a talking point for the Knights is big man Cam Scott. He has been a monster this season on the glass and just getting bulk rebounds this season, Michael Morgan from the Bulls is definitely going to have to work hard during this game if they have any chance of winning this game. Jordan Hendrix is finally starting to find his place in this team, leading all scorers last week for the Knights with15 points.
I am tipping this game to be a close one. I think the Knights will continue their winning form and win this game by 1 – 10 points.
