Starkey's Match of the round - 11

SOUTH CONFERENCE

For the Monday night conference, I have selected the Blazers vs Unicorns game as the match of the round. Last week the Blazers jumped the Penguins in the first quarter and could not miss a bucket as they led at the first break 26 – 5. It was the Nagel (AKA Bagel Brothers) stealing the show in this game, Cory had 29 points in 27mins and shot the ball at 61%, Kyle had a massive Triple Double having 13 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. The Unicorns played against the Kraken but they had already started this game the week before, but unfortunately it was called off due to too much rain getting in through the roof. All games were pushed back for the following week so this game did not start from scratch it started where it left off, it was the two first round picks and their young gun that helped the Unicorns get a massive win over the Kraken. Dale Taylor had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Lee Belton had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, Jake Sutherland had 14 points and 8 rebounds.

The last time these two teams met was back in round 4 and it was one of the games of the season, the game could of went either way but it was the Unicorns who got the 1-point victory. This game will not disappoint again especially if the Blazers can come out like they did last week and if Dale, Lee and Jake are on I reckon this game will be another close one and probably could go into overtime.

This is a massive game for the Blazers, as it is the last game of our home and away season and the Blazers have to get a win and rely on other results to go their way so that they play finals this season. With that being said if we are able to see the Blazers from last week, I believe they can get this win and have a chance of playing finals and to be honest after seeing them first hand last week I would not want to play this team in a final.

Considering the Blazer have a lot more to play for than the Unicorns I am tipping the Blazers in a close one and tipping them between 1 – 10 points.

EAST CONFERENCE

For the Tuesday night conference, I have selected the Bulls vs Hornets game as match of the round. Last week the Bulls played against the Vikings and gave them their 5th consecutive loss for the season and it was Tommy Walsh who set them up for this win. He finished with 16 points and 4 steals. The Hornets were very disappointing last week against the Knights.. Yes, the Hornets were missing a couple of their guns but I don’t think anyone expected them to lose by 38 points.

These two teams last met in round 3 and it was the Bulls getting the win by 8 points. For the Bulls it was the Smooth Brothers doing most of the damage and setting up this win for the Bulls. Spezza was the only player from the Hornets that hit double figures in points and rebounds.

Now, the Tuesday night competition is locked for the first two positions, but there are 5 teams fighting for 3rd and 4th, so the Hornets will have to get a win against the Bulls and rely on results for them to make finals this season which would be unreal for them after a disappointing start to the season.

If the Hornets want to have a chance at playing finals this season, they need all their players firing and they need to be on from the first tip off. With that being said though they will need to stop the Smooth Brothers and make sure they don’t have a big impact on this game because if they get cooking the Hornets can kiss finals goodbye.

Both teams have a lot to play for and will have to rely on results from other games but if Trav, Spezza, Carpenter and O’Brien are all on they will be hard to stop.

I am going to tip the Hornets in a close one and they will win this game by 1 – 10 points.
